Sherko Zen-Aloush is a Syrian Kurdish politician who is an active member of Oxford's community. He has lived in Oxford for 23 years and owns a successful business in the city. While living away from Syria, Sherko continues his political and diplomatic activities on behalf of Syrian Kurdish rights through political party activities, and by engaging with the UK and Syrian governments. He actively promotes Kurdish culture and was moved to become involved with the Identity Without Borders project as he sees it as an opportunity to develop knowledge and understanding amongst museum visitors, and the wider Oxford community, about Kurdish culture and identity.
